How does the tdee calculator work?

The calculator first estimates your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation. It then multiplies your BMR by an activity multiplier to estimate the calories your body uses each day.

Formula

BMR = 10 × weight + 6.25 × height − 5 × age + sex adjustment; TDEE = BMR × activity multiplier

About this calculator

TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure. It estimates the number of calories your body uses each day based on your basal metabolism and physical activity.

This calculator first estimates your Basal Metabolic Rate using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation. Your BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor to estimate your total daily calorie expenditure.

TDEE is an estimate rather than an exact measurement. Actual calorie needs can vary depending on body composition, activity, lifestyle and other individual factors.
